There is a specific feeling when a friend you haven't seen in a while drops back into your path and you get the joy of unexpected recognition. This album of covers of songs about time, youth, and aging is absolutely so warm and lovely. Heller's voice is so suited to these tracks being filled with lightness and the production amplifies this effect like a living room furnished for a comfortable holiday visit. I did not know that I wanted this album to give me a sense of centeredness and contentment in assessing where I am in life. It has a presentness to it that is not dwelling in the past, as much as acknowledging it, and not longing for the future as much as it is honest about hoping for close of grace. It opens with "100 years" and also features a cover of one of my favorite tracks of all time in "Landslide". I often forget to record when something interesting crosses my path and inspires me to find someone to tell about the experience. I wanted to thank JJ Heller for the thoughtful reframing of these songs.
